Two weeks from now, I’ll be a special young English girl for an undetermined amount of time. I’m not sure for how long I’ll inhabit her, but I’ll probably not post during that period. Here is a note from her so you all can get to know her. Hello, I’m Iris Montrose and I live in Liverpool. Y’see, I’ve got something funny, I’m allergic to water which causes me some problems at school I cannot take a bath, the kids call me smelly but my skin would turn red, all liquids are poison, a jump in a puddle means burns on my belly I walk slowly, making sure I don’t break a sweat I watch the football bounce back and forth making sure I don’t bounce back and forth or else I spew acid, even with my sweat catching net All of this makes me want to cry, but I can’t. tears leave a trail of blister on their path from my eye. “Stripe Face, Stripe Face,” I’m afraid the kids would chant that brings me to my friend, good ol’ Lilly Rose like me, she’s got something funny she’s completely dry not a drop in her body, or so the story goes her skin is flakes, her eyes are stones, her saliva is salt and in the loo, when she needs to pee, she just emits a series of moans she comes into my room and we want to cry but of course neither can my skin hates my tears and she couldnt produce enough water to drown a fly so I got some straws, y’know, the flexi kind I put 40 together end to end I put the ends in our eyes, it helped us unwind Then I blinked and cried and cried and cried and cried the water traveled down the straws the tears couldn’t touch my skin, no matter how hard they tried At the other end my friend Lilly held he eyes open wide the melancholy liquid travelling down and hitting her pupil one tear dripped down the front of her face, another down the side Thanks to our contraption, we can now cry our lives aren’t perfect but bendy flexi straws make it easier we’re going to go sob some more, so I guess I’ll say bye
